On Saturday 18 October, Cadence & Co joined the sailing community for the Port Jackson Championship Sponsors Day, one of the most iconic events in the 16ft skiff calendar.
With a fleet of fifty skiffs racing across Sydney Harbour, the Championship celebrates both tradition and innovation in the sport. Against a backdrop of the Sydney Opera House and Harbour Bridge, the spectacle captures the essence of craftsmanship and precision, qualities that resonate deeply with how we design and build.
The day delivered everything that defines great sailing: tight competition, refined skill, and a spirit of mastery. With world champion Tom Slingsby and Olympic medallist Lisa Darmanin among the lineup, the racing was electric, and Sail Media’s live coverage brought the energy of the harbour to a global audience.
In the 13ft class, the standard of sailing was exceptional. Harken’s Heidi Bates and Orlando Sadlik led the fleet with commanding precision, followed by Buckingham Marine and Red Pumps Manly. Manly’s Bigfoot Sailing took the honours on handicap in a display of focus and finesse.
Our Cadence & Co 13ft skiff team placed fifth on handicap and thirteenth on scratch from a fleet of twenty-four, an impressive result for their first multi club event under our banner.
For us, supporting this team is about more than sponsorship. It is about championing the art of sailing, where precision, collaboration, and a love of the ocean come together. These are the same values that define our work across architecture, construction, and design.
